Outpost installation and configuration guide
- Locate the downloaded file (outpostproinstall.exe)
- Select the preferred language->ok
- The following screen will appear (click on the image to enlarge), press 'next'

- Now the license agreement will appear, read it carefully and choose 'I accept the agreement'. If you don't, check 'I do not accept the agreement'. Press 'next'
- Choose a location to install Outpost to, the default folder is fine, but if you want the program to be installed elsewhere, enter the preferred location or browse to the preferred folder

- Press 'next' and 'install'
- Sit back a few seconds while the installation is taking place

- Now you can choose wheter to configure automatically or to configure using the wizard. Choosing the auto-option is the most convenient, thought the wizard provides more protection. We choose the wizard

- You'll be presented a screen of detected local networks, press 'next'
- Your computer will be scanned for applications using network connections. Press details to view more information about the found programs. And 'rules' in the submenu, to configure the found programs. (note: the buttons below, 'volgende', 'volgende' and 'annuleren' mean 'back', 'next' and 'cancel'


- Now after reviewing the settings and/or changing anything, press 'ok' and 'next'
- Check the box next to 'Component Control' to prevent malware intrusions and press 'next'
- Your system will be scanned for components to be protected, this can take a few minutes, so sit back

- Now you get this screen, where you can click 'advanced' to finetune Outpost

- After clicking 'advanced' you can specify a password, strongly reccomended if you have kids

- The application tab shows all detected applications, this is the same list as shown when clicking on details at step 10
- Ensure at the tab 'policy' 'rules wizard' is selected, as shown below. Now press 'ok' and select 'finish'. You can also check one of the block traffic options, though they will not really provide you a higher level of security

- Now it's time to restart, press 'finish'

- After restarting, this icon will appear in your taskbar, that's outpost

- Usually, after installation, malware will be dected, showing a screen like this

When the 'info' sign shows you've got adware, spyware etc. choose 'remove' - After choosing remove you'll get this screen select 'restart now'

- After rebooting, rightclick on the outpost-icon and select 'show'

- You'll be presented the main console in which you can change, when necessary, the configuration

- Goto tools->update ->next to get the latest malware definitions and/or program updates

- Next, goto tools once again. Use the logviewer to view any recent activity and if you need proof someone tried to hack his/her way into your system.

- Select tools->run spyware system scan. Select 'full systems can' the first time you scan your computer to ensure you get rid of all junk on your computer

- The scan will take quite a while, so just wait.......

- After scanning a report will be provided informing you about the results

- When you want to scan for spyware later, you can choose the quick scan.
- Congratulations, now you're protected. whenever an application, one which isn't listed/hasn't got a rule in Outpost, you'll be presented a screen asking you to allow or disallow communication. If you started an application and expected such a request you can allow access. When the screen appears out of the blue, deny.
