Spybot installation and configuration
After downloading Spybot you need to setup the program
- Execute 'spybotsd14.exe' (where 14 indicates the version number so this might differ)
- Choose your setup language and 'ok'
- The pre-installation screen will appear, press 'next'
- Press 'next' and the license agreement will appear. Read it carefully and check the box next to 'I accept the license agreement' when you agree. When you don't cancel the installation (click to enlarge the image)
- Now choose where to install spybot. Press 'next' if you don't want to install the program to another location, press browse when you want to change the folder spybot is installed to.
- On the next screen, when you have a internet connection also check 'download updates immediatly'
- Now you'll be asked whether you want to create a program folder, the default name is recommended, so press 'next' once again
- On the 'additonal tasks' screen it's recommended to also check the 'Teatimer' option. This feature will, in realtime, find and terminate malware processes and undo changes those programs made. Note, this option will take about 5mb of resources/ram
- After pressing next once again a installation summary is displayed. Review all options and choose 'install'
- When you've checked the update feature, the following screen will appear asking where Spybot is installed, so it can update the definition files. When installed in the default folder (step 5) press next, else browse to the correct folder
- Now leave the option to run Spybot checked and press 'finish'
- A warning about advertisement robots will pop-up, take this warning into consideration and press 'ok'
- You'll be given the option to create a backup of your registry, which is strongly recommended, since even thee best program can result in unwanted behaviour
- Now, check for updates, unless done during installation
- Immunizing the system is also recommended as well as reading the tutorial and faq (last screen which will appear)
