The Cleaner Installation and Configuration

  1. After downloading the program execute the installation file (cleaner41.exe)
  2. Press next when the pre-installation notice is shown (click to enlarge)
  3. Now the license agreement is shown. Read it carefully and choose 'I Agree' when you do. When you don't cancel the installation.
  4. Now the latest versions changes are presented, press 'next'
  5. You can now choose where to install The Cleaner, the default folder is recommended, but when you have all your programs in a different 'porogram files' folder you can change it here and choose 'next' afterwards
  6. The Cleaner , by default, creates a startmenu folder, you can change the name of the folder now and press 'next' or check 'Don't create a Start Menu Folder'
  7. You can choose to create a quickstart and/or a Desktop icon. Creating a desktop icon can come in handy later but isn't really necessary so we press 'next'. Note: do not uncheck one of the two scanning items
  8. The installation summary will be presented now, press 'install' to start the installation process. The installation will take a few seconds to minutes, depending on the speed of your computer, so sit back and relax
  9. After installation uncheck 'view readme.txt now' and press finish to start the program and the update process.
  10. Now a lot of screens will appear (too much I think...). On the The Cleaner screen choose 'evaluate. On the update screen, choose your connection and press next.
  11. After checking for updates select all available updates and perform the update. Afterwards you'll need to select 'evaluate' again
  12. On the registry prection screen check both options and check 'don't ask me again'->ok
  13. The 'The Cleaner' main interface will be started.
  14. Goto the 'options' tab->update->and check 'check updates on startup'->ok. Note: only do this when you have a broadband connection
  15. All other options are set as they should be though, at the 'general' tab you can uncheck 'show splash screen on startup'.
  16. Now goto 'scan system' to perform a full system scan to ensure you're 'clean'
  17. The scanning will take quite some time, just let it do its work.
  18. After the scanning is complete reboot your computer
  19. That's it, you've set up and configured The Cleaner
