Bitdefender 9 Installation and Configuration
Note: This tutorial applies to Bitdefender 9 but can also be applied to 'older' versions
- Execute 'bitdefender_std_v9.exe' for the downloaded version (where _std_ indicate the version) or setup.exe for the on-cd version
- Press next when confronted with the next screen, summarizing the content of the installation package (click on the image for an enlargement)

- Now another screen will show up, press next once again
- Accept the license agreement, after reading it carefully offcourse and press next

- Select typical installtion and press next. when the screen below appears press next once again.

- Before pressing isntall, check all items except the 'open readme file'

- Now the isntallation will take off, this will take a few seconds to several minutes, depending on the configuration of your computer

- After installation, the screen below will appear, press yes

- After restarting, several screens appear. the one below will appear as long as you're running the trial, press continue to erm, continue

- In the lower right corner a red little ball will appear. This is Bitdefender. The transparant graph shows file activity on your computer.

- It's time to update Bitdefender. Rigchtlcik on the Bitdefender icon and select update
- An alternative way of updating is starting the Bitdefender interface by either clicking start->programs->bitdefender->bitdefender or by doubleclicking on the tray icon. Afterwards you can go to the update tab and choose update now

- Note: When you're behind a proxy goto 'settings'. Here you can configure your proxy settings so you can update
- Now it's time to some configuring. Start Bitdefender (see step 12) and goto the antivirus-tab. Ensure all items are checked. when rpessing advanced (the first 'advanced' you get the smaller screen. Here you can exclude files/folders from scanning. All default settings are as safe as you should be

- When pressing the second 'advanced' you can see which registry modifications bitdefender blocked. Ie. malicious files will create registry values, bitdefender will stop this

- After configuring Bitdefender goto antivirus->scan. Select all your local drives and choose 'scan'. This will take some time but will ensure you haven't got an infection
- You're done, you've set up Bitdefender and configured the program
