NOD32 Install and Configuration
- To install from the NOD32 CD, simply insert the CD into the drive. If setup
does not begin automatically, you will need to run Setup.exe from the CD’s
root directory. To install the downloaded version (also possible when you ahve a license) execute the downloaded setupfile
- When installing the following screen will appear to unpack the files, press extract and write down the location of the directory so you can delete the temporary files when the installation has been finished
- After unpacking setup will be started

- When the installation screen pops-up choose 'expert installation' this will allow us to fully configure NOD during installation. (click the image to enlarge)

- When you press next the license agreement will appear. Read it carefully and when you agree choose 'I agree'. And press next When you don't agree, cancel the installation
- NOD, by default, wants to install itself to c:\program files\eset When you want to change that destination, you can do so now, press next afterwards

- The Automatic Update screen allows you to enter your license key, if you have one. Keep the server setting at 'auto'
- Choose your internet connection and whether or not you're using a proxy. when unsure check that option. When you select 'I use a proxy server' continue to step 9, else, go to step 10

Now you can enter your proxy information. When you're unsure about the settings, press the back button and choose 'I don't know....)'
- The next step is configuring the automatic updates. Leave these enabled if you want to receive full protection

- Now you can password protect your installation, a great idea when you have kids. Don't enable silent mode unless you're on a network where NOD administrator is installed

- Now for some speed tweaking you can disable the splash screen and the NOD GUI. We check both boxes and press next

- Here we can configure the sending of alerts to administrators or to yourself. If you don't want to do this press next and skip to step 15

- When you've checked 'send warnings by email' this screen allows you to configure your mailserver and recepients

- Threatsense.net collects anonymous data, you can participate in the collection of this data by checking the box

- Now for the realtime protection, check the box and press next. When you don't you will NOT be protected by the on-access scanner

- When you want to be able to rightclick on a file and let the file be scanned by NOD check the alst box (recommended). A NOD32 shortcut on your desktop also comes in handy so we check both boxes

- We also enable the document scanner since macroviruses and vbscripts are always looking for new victims. Note: when using office 97 or 'lower' don't check the box)

- Internet and emailprotection is also a good idea, since viruses also spread, well mainly spread, via mail and the internet, so check the box and press next

- Now enable IMON checking at maximum efficiency and all mail since not only incoming, but also outgoing mail can contain malware

- Enabling http checking will prevent infection by malicious webscripts/htmlcode

- When you use mcirosoft outlook or outlook express check the box, when you don't uncheck and press next

- It took some time but we did a lot of prework configuring NOPD before installation. Press next and the installation will start. This will take a few seconds to minutes, depending on your configuration
