Norman Virus Control Install and Configuration

  1. Execute 'nvc581_r4eng.exe' (where 581_r4 indiciates the version and eng the language) for the downloaded version or setup.exe for the on-cd version
  2. When installing the download version the setup will unpack, this will take a few seconds to minutes, depending on the configuration of your computer (click on the images for an enlargement)
  3. General info will be displayed, telling you you're about to install norman, press next
  4. The latest release information will be displayed, read it when you want to, but you can also press enxt immediatly
  5. The license agreement will be shown, read it carefully and choose yes when you agree. When you don't, cancel the isntallation
  6. You can now enter your license key, when you don't have one enter 'DEMO' and press next, we'll get back to this issue later on
  7. When choosing next, a warning will appear, choose ok and the installation will continue.
  8. Norman, by default, wants to install itself to c:\norman. We don't want it there, keeping all your programs in the program files folder is a better idea so choose browse
  9. Change the path to drive:\Program Files\Norman, choose ok and press next
  10. After reviewing the installation summary press next again
  11. The installation will now start and take a few seconds to minutes, depending on the configuration of your computer.
  12. Choose finish, and the installation will finish, but we haven't, yet...
  13. Because we entered 'DEMO' as license key, or rather as a substitue, the license wizard will start. When you do have a license key and entered it, you can skip this step, when you do have a license key but didn't enter it, you can do so now. We pretend we don't have one, so press next and next once again to start your browser to register this copy
  14. Enter your personal information. Note: only the marked fields are neccesary
  15. Allright, Norman seems to have changed the way to register. Go to this page, enter your information and you'll get a code sent to you by email. Enter this code in the box shown below
  16. Now we only need to update and configure norman. Rightclick on the norman icon in the systemtray (the one with the red cross) and choose internet update
  17. Norman checks for available updates, press yes when asked to install and wait until the program is updated. This will take a few seconds to minutes, depending on your internet connection
  18. Norman is uptodate now, so your protected. All settings in norman are set as they should be.
  19. To finalize the installation we perform a full systems can by going to start->programs->norman virus control-> scan harddisks. When norman finds viruses during the scan you'll be notified
