Bitdefender problems
Problem: You cannot uninstall Bitdefender (all versions)using add/remove programs
Solution: Download this tool. Unpack it and run cleantool.exe. Restart the computer and delete the unpacked files
Problem: When updating: The bitdefender icon disappears, the console is not responding or upgrepl.exe is not responding
Solution: The module from BitDefender helps us estimate how viruses are spread over the world (the graphical presentation of these statistics are available on bitdefenders website). Basically, when BitDefender detects a virus (either the on-access scaner or the on-demand scanner), R.T.V.R. connects to our reporting servers and report the incident (no other information, including private user information are included in this report).
In order to solve the mentioned issue please follow the guide below:
- Open the BitDefender console (double click on the system tray icon);
- Go to > ;
- Uncheck .
Problem:
- The system freezes after long use of common software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows Media Player), while scanning for viruses, when BitDefender is updating, or when disconnecting from the Internet.
- Unknown error in the xcommsvr.exe module.
- vsserv.exe is not responding at system shutdown.
- The computer slows down.
Solution:
- When you can update bitdefender normally, do so, the latest patches will be download and, after a restart, bitdefender will function as it should
- The default Windows interface is inaccessible:
- Download the patch archive and extract to your disk the files filespy.vxd and filespy9x.dll.
- Restart the computer in .
- Replace the files.
Go to the folder containing the extracted files and type the commands:
COPY FILESP~1.DLL C:\PROGRA~1\SOFTWIN\BITDEFE~1\FILESP~1.DLLCOPY FILESPY.VXD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\FILESPY.VXD - Confirm you want to overwrite the old files
- Restart
Problem: Missing: 'oleacc.dll' or 'Module C:Program Files\Softwin\BitDefender ...\bdbellex.dll failed to register HRESULT - 2147023739' or 'Module C:\Program Files\Softwin\BitDefender8\bdshelxt.dll failed to register. HRESULT - 2147023739'
Solution:
- Cancel the installation process;
- If BitDefender is already installed remove it before proceeding to the next step;
- Download and install the system patch released by Microsoft as an update for the outdated Windows 98 versions;
The update is different for each language. Download the update corresponding to the language of your operating system.
- Restart your computer when asked;
- Reinstall BitDefender.
Problem: Receiving email is very slowly or I'm getting timeouts
Solution: This issue is also described on Microsoft's website. Basically, this is
not just a 'BitDefender related' situation, there could be several
causes that could lead to this situation. Please visit Microsoft's
website to try the solutions presented there (see the Related Info section). If, however, the solutions presented there do not help please try our workaround.
Temporary workaround: as this situation may occur only when retrieving emails with large attachments, you need to temporary disable the email scanning module of BitDefender by following the procedure below (only when downloading the big attachments emails):
- Open the BitDefender console by double clicking on the BitDefender system tray icon
- Go to Antivirus
- Uncheck the Scan incoming mail option
- Additionally, if you use BitDefender 8 Professinal Plus (or BitDefender 8 Spam Deny over a BitDefender 8 Standard installation), you will need to disable the Antispam module from the General tab.
Problem: DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELING_PENDING_OPERATIONS STOP: 0x000000CE(0xEE3BB966,0x00000000,0xEE3BB966,0x00000000) regspy.sys
Solution:
- open Windows Explorer and browse to BitDefender installation location (default is \Program Files\SOFTWIN\BitDefender8\
- rename the file called regspy.sys to regspy.sy_
- reboot your system
Problem: Bitdefender scanner freezes/stays at 0 eprcent
Solution:
- Delete any archives of the bdlite.exe and bdss.exe files.
To find the archives:
-
Verify the presence of and delete the files bdlite.exe.avxpnd and bdlite.exe.gzip from the location:
%ProgramFiles%\SOFTWIN\BitDefender8\where %ProgramFiles% represents the path to the Program Files folder.
-
Verify the presence of and delete the files bdss.exe.avxpnd and bdss.exe.gzip from the location:
%CommonProgramFiles%\SOFTWIN\BitDefender Scan Server\where %CommonProgramFiles% represents the path to the Common Files folder.
-
Update BitDefender and check again the presence of the four archives.
-
- Scan without the boot sectors analysis.
To except the boot sectors from scanning:
- Open BitDefender console.
- Click Antivirus, then select Scan.
- Click Settings.
- Uncheck Scan boot sectors.
- Click OK.
- Click Scan.
- Use the command prompt scanner.
Scan using the command: bdc.exe c:\ /boot /files /arc /list /boot /mail /debug or bdc.exe c:\ /files /arc /list /boot /mail /debug if the previous fails.
