Panda problems

Here some common Panda problems are discussed as well as a possible solution. When a problem, with or without the solution, is not listed, please contact the webmaster or post on the forum. Your problem, and solution, will be reviewed and included.

Problem: When Microsoft Outlook starts, the following message appears: “The Addin drive:\Program files\Panda software\PandaAntivirus versionnumber\……Could not be installed or loaded”.
Cause: The Panda module hasn't been integrated correctly into outlook
Solution:

Problem: Panda will not update but I'm connected to the internet properly
Cause: After not updating for a while this problem can cocur
Solution:

Problem: Setup failed to run installation (0x80040702)
Cause:
A folder has been found containing remains of a previous isntallation of Panda
Solution:

  1. Goto windows explorer->Tools->Folder Options->view and check 'Show all files/show hidden files and folders'
  2. Browse to C:\Program files \InstallShield Installation Information to the folder starting with 'E91563B4', 'B8F321A' or 'BB85F18B'
  3. Delete the folder
  4. Restart your computer
  5. Resume installation

Problem: Antivirus protection is disabled and I use InCD
Cause: Older versions of Nero InCD create a conflict with Panda realtime protection
Solution: Download the latest version of InCD here, install and restart

Problem: My computer or explorer freezes when exploring removeable media (CD/DVD/usb, etc.)
Cause:
when removing removeable media when exploring the computer will freeze
Solution: Remove the media after closing explorer or browsing to another device/drive

Problem:You have multiple users on your windows system and installed Panda. User1 installed Panda and can use it normally. User2 cannot use the software normally (and vica versa)
Cause: Panda doesn't change permissions in the windows registry for the startup of panda programs
Solution:
1. Login as the user who installed the panda software (and got it working)
1. Start Regedit
2. Navigate to Hkey local machine-> software-> microsoft-> windows-> currentversion-> run
3. There rightclick on all values associated with panda. You can recognize those by either their name, folder or filename
4. Select 'permissions'
5. Add all users to the permissions. When a user isn't listed, add him/her manually
6. Reboot
